As part of the on-going education programme, we reach the public through several community activities; besides the direct approach through village meetings, we also work closely with the Malawi Police Services Community Police activities.
While the Community Police are sensitizing the community on the several security issues in the particular locality, the LSPCA team joins and takes the opportunity of the free mobilization to disseminate the knowledge on the animal welfare issues and the legal implications and possible criminal prosecution which links well with the police objectives.
Mass and print media is also employed to deliver key messages for specific campaigns. All the messages invariably communicate about the benefits of caring well for the animals with a view to instill a sense of responsibility to the animals’ well –being.
In addition to mass media we utilise events like the Dog show, to publicize what the Trust stands for and her position on certain public policies. Other channels is the Bi Annual Newsletter, which updates all the members, friends and supporters about any news at the secretariat or in our activities. TheProgrammes Officer is in spearheads this drive as well as the community liaison role.
