Fostering

Once our rescue animals have completed their mandatory quarantine period, they are moved out into holding pens until they are adopted, BUT we have so many animals and too little space for all of them and this is where the foster home comes into it.

As a foster home you offer a temporary home for a post quarantine animal for anything from 3 weeks to 3 months, while we continue to look for a permanent home for them. When at a foster home, the animals learn about living in a family environment, where they are loved, safe and looked after and treated as part of the family.

We have found that animals that have lived at a foster home and much easier to rehome as prospective adopters can see the animals true personality and what it will be like in a home environment. Basic obedience training like sit, paw etc are wonderful tools in helping a pet find a permanent home.

If you are in Malawi for only a short time but would like to help the LSPCA, please consider becoming a foster parent. It is an ideal way to help an animal in need and still get your puppy love at the same time!! But equally, if you are long term in Malawi and would like to help out as a foster home, please contact us.
