Spay and Neuter Clinics

In order to try and keep Lilongwe’s dog population under control, we conduct weekly spay/neuter clinics. These are held in different villages and we advertise beforehand by talking with the local chief and school teachers so they can spread the word that we’ll be coming. The clinics were started in April 2009 and launched by Luke Gamble of Worldwide Veterinary Services.

Both resident and volunteer veterinarians. Once we arrive, we set up tables and so surgeries right there in the village. We operate on a first come, first served basis and if we can’t operate on every dog there, we schedule to return and treat the rest. Volunteers are needed to set up and assist with the surgeries.
