Dr Joseph Nkhoma
Joseph is the current chair of the LSPCA, a
private veterinarian in Lilongwe and one of the founder trustee members of Lilongwe Society for Protection and Care of Animals.
As a founding member and a veterinarian he regularly helps out at the veterinary clinics.
Bev Trataris Bev is a businesswoman and treasurer of the LSPCA. She is also a founding member of the LSPCA whose support in the day-to-day activities, such as fostering rescue animals is invaluable.
Tracey Dettmer
Tracey is the Board secretary and LSPCA adoption officer. She brings invaluable experience in
caring for cats as well as networking skills to the organisation as adoption officer. Tracey also manages the Cyber-kennel.
She is the trustee representative on the fundraising committee.
Dr Gray Matita
Dr Matita is a veterinary pathologist by speciality, the sitting President of the Malawi Veterinary Association and a very keen
animal welfare activist in Malawi. He is experienced in administration and has a vast knowledge of government procedure and protocol. His
contribution of critical guidance is invaluable in the workings of our organisation.
Kari Scott
Kari has been a strong supporter of the LSPCA ever since its conception. She is also the official cat quarantine officer of the LSPCA.
Mrs Scott is the general manager of Capital foods Ltd and therefore her business sense and contacts is a tremendous asset to the LSPCA. She is
chair of the Finance committee of the trust.
Dr Bernard Chimera
Dr Chimera is the Director of the Directorate of Animal Health and Livestock Development DAHLD. The LSPCA’s
mandate is expanded by DAHLD that falls under the Ministry of Agriculture as the line ministry that regulates the LSPCA. His presence on
the board is constitutional and institutional.
Dave Nyongo
Dave is the outgoing Commissioner of Police for the central Region of Malawi. Following the addition of the Police Commissioner
to the trust board, the LSPCA made great strides in ending the illegal peddling of animals on the roadside as well as towards more humane transport
of animals in Lilongwe. Mr Nyonga is a keen animal welfare supporter and his personal commitment to
ending cruel animal practices, facilitated through his Malawi Police services duties, has been invaluable to our organisation. Again, this is a
constitutional board position as advised by the inspector General of Police.
The Board unanimously agreed to retain him on the board after announcing his Police retirement. This is a constitutional board position as advised by
the inspector General of Police. We await the placement of the next Commissioner to occupy the office before we make a formal approach.
Zilanie Ghondwe
Zilanie is the Chief Editor of the Guardian newspaper. Her editorial skills and enthusiasm for animal welfare have made her a crucial member
of the board. Since LSPCA is a relatively new organisation, her involvement in generating publicity is paramount to our long term success. Zilanie also provides
us with invaluable advice in the area of public relations.
Siva Kumar
Mr Kumar is a Pharmacist by profession and distributes pharmaceutical supplies throughout Malawi. As well as being a strong supporter of the LSPCA he is also
a keen animal welfare activist. His business background makes him a great addition to the board.
Donnamarie O’Connell
Donna is an ecologist by specialisation. She is also the Senior training and Project manager of RSPCA international. Donna was fundamental in the inception of our
organisation, as RSPCA international remains the most important supporter of the trust. Her support to the LSPCA goes beyond financial ad her support, as Trustee has been instrumental
to the success of our organisation.
Lee Stewart
Lee is the founder of the LSPCA. Through his vision, the LSPCA was born. He set the ball rolling during his tenure as the Manager of the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre and sourced support
from the RSPCA. Lee was by default the first Chair of the Trust board, up until mid 2010 when he moved back to the United Kingdom. Lee still holds a position as a trustee and his continued support is
highly valued.
Vitto Mulula
Vitto is the Director of Health and Community services at the City Assembly. As the LSPCA operates in the City, Vitto’s direction and support is pivotal in synchronising
our activities with those of the city Assembly. Alot of our activities lean towards the mandate held by the Assembly, which makes their presence on the LSPCA trust board indispensible.
Sam Kamvazina (RIP)
Sam was a Veterinarian by profession with a lot of experience with government and their duties. Dr Kamvazina is a retired Principal Secretary of more than one ministry-
including our line ministry of agriculture. His advice in handling public duties as well as in dealing with government are important in the day to day running of the LSPCA.
Evelyne Van Dam
Just accepted the Board Invitation to join the Board of Trustees. She runs a private hotel business in Lilongwe and will bring to the board her
experience of running a business and LSPCA will greatly benefit from her marketing skills.
Dr Danny Chinombo
is a seasoned civil servant with experience from several years of service at the Food and Agriculture organisation. As a former Director in the
Ministry of Agriculture and a veterinarian, his contribution to the LSPCA will be immense especially with Programs guidance and funds soliciting from international bodies.
