In celebration of this year’s World Animal Day on 4th October, LSPCA joined hands with an enthusiastic group of school children from Biwi primary school in Lilongwe. The day was filled with exciting activities focused on promoting awareness and compassion towards animals. The event featured engaging art sessions, fun animal games, and an enlightening animal kindness lecture, all aimed at nurturing a culture of empathy and respect for our furry, feathered, and finned friends.
The event kicked off with an inspiring art session that encouraged children to unleash their creativity while focusing on animal welfare themes. Armed with pencils and crayons, the young artists passionately expressed their love for animals through colourful and heartfelt artwork. Themes ranged from wildlife conservation to responsible pet ownership, illustrating the children's deep understanding of the importance of treating animals with kindness and care.
Following the art session, the children engaged in a series of fun animal games designed to educate them about different species, their habitats, and the importance of conservation. Games like "Animal Charades" and "Animal Trivia" brought out both laughter and knowledge, showcasing the power of playful learning. Through these games, the children gained a better understanding of the diverse world of animals and the need to protect and respect them.
A highlight of the event was an insightful animal kindness lecture delivered by a representative of the animal welfare organization. The lecture focused on instilling empathy and fostering a sense of responsibility towards animals. It covered topics such as proper animal care, understanding animal behaviour, and the significance of adoption and spaying/neutering. The engaging lecture left a lasting impression on the children, motivating them to become advocates for animal welfare within their communities.
The celebration of World Animal Day in collaboration with Ladder to Learning and Animal Kindness Club school children was a resounding success. The event succeeded in promoting the values of compassion, kindness, and respect towards animals among the future generation. By engaging in creative art sessions, exciting animal games, and an educational lecture, the children gained valuable insights into the world of animals and the importance of treating them with love and care.
