Honourable Deputy Minister of Agriculture Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima MP on Wednesday officially launched the new LSPCA state-of-the-art veterinary hospital and animal shelter in Lilongwe.
Animal health should be in check at all times. A healthy donkey has a long lifespan. The LSPCA’s Center for Animal Welfare understands the need for quality veterinary services and conducts periodic veterinary clinics in rural areas.
Lilongwe society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA) has accredited six institutions to operate with working dogs following their adherence to animal welfare guidelines.
LSPCA has been working with donkeys and their owners since 2009. We started with medical treatments and soon learned we needed to do more. We saw many cases that needed attention; cruelty, neglect, exploitation, extreme emaciation, human inflicted wounds and injuries, and worm infestations. Therefore, in 2016, we started the Donkey Welfare Project together with The Donkey Sanctuary.
You'll find us in Kanengo-Roberts/Area 28, on the outskirts of Lilongwe city. When driving from the city center/Lilongwe town on the M1, just passed Area 30 police, turn at Total filling station, then take your second turn to the right, then first turn left, and about 300 metres you'll see our signpost.
