Fodder bale making1

Donkeys owners with empathy and compassion are leading by good example. In Dedza and Lilongwe, donkey owners are now busy making feed for their donkeys in readiness for the dry season. Crop residues which were traditionally burnt after harvesting are now being preserved as a nutritious feed for donkeys.

Modified cart 1

The Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA) under the Donkey Sanctuary Project (DSP) is working closely with lead farmers in Lilongwe and the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources(LUANAR)-department of agriculture engineering to identify and come up with a modified donkey cart model which will greatly enhance welfare of Malawian donkeys at the same time improving livelihood of people.

Mr Phiri

Proper donkey handling is an essential part of good animal husbandry. It benefits the animals you care for, and creates a desirable working atmosphere between the two. Proper handling techniques help maintain production quality and effectively reduces stress on donkeys as well as people. It also reduces stress on facilities and equipment and leads to better management of your farm or household.
